Based on real life Il-76, the Ilyushin Il-76 is a multi-purpose, four-engine turbofan strategic airlifter developed by the Soviet Union in the 1970s. Designed by the Ilyushin Design Bureau, it was originally intended to deliver heavy machinery and cargo to remote, poorly equipped airfields.
